I am curious about everyones experience living out here. I hv been out here 15 years or so. I don't have any super local genetics unfortunately. I went ham the first couple years buying seeds from everywhere and making my own gene pool to hunt through.
Fun stuff but later on i learned it's too many directions to go at once ?
Heres what i am dropping now for my 2023 summer set. Along wt some of my own crosses in the background. It's almost go time here for eastside outdoor growers!
Also trying some csi forbidden fruit s1's

Forbidden Fruit is about the only thing I've never been able to enjoy. Tastes like a sweet version of the bottom of McDonald's dumpster to me ?♀️

^^^I haven't tried forbidden fruit yet. The colors are appealing but i have plenty purples n such from other stuff. Bottom of the dumpster in a bad way? Not the good kine dumpster ?
So much stuff is bred indoors it usually does poorly outdoors here. But i run them anyways and cross them into other things to search through later. I hv been interested in some outdoor packs. Had alot of luck wt cannaexotics and norstar outside.

Just not a flavor I like. For a minute in 2017-18, it seems like that, cement shoes, and gelato was all that was around. I love cement shoes.
Outdoor for me right now is a bit sketchy. Probably running autos all year but plans could change fast.

i am afraid to attempt a detailed journal yet. i feel Alot of stuff will not make it this run.
its been weird late winter weather here and i hv engaged in some battle wt thrips in the veg tent recently.
Here are some crosses of my own that i hv been starting - i do give them some name for now, esp for easier labeling
OCD - made wt an orange cookie diesel female (useful) x purple male pollen mix
Mikky - dream weaver female (hazeman) x purple male mix (the mom seemed to lean mikado/grapefruit/fast indica to me)
Coco puffz- cocoa puff female (hazeman) x purple male mix
Haw.K - hawaiian king female (cannaexotics) x purple male mix
(I found 2 phenos in these last go, a blonde and a dark purple)
guava z- frosted guava auto female (mosca) x purple male mix
AC/OG - ac/og fmale (gps) x female pollen from a reversed cookie crunch (gps)
bluecheese - blue cheese cross i forgot about. (Barneysfarm) x ? (I remember the bl.chz female was on the fruity side. I wanted the frosted cheese side!)
the first 4 are crosses i really liked and am growing out again
The last 2 are older stuff i never gave a good chance

I had a barneyfarm blue cheese solo seed freebie from when i first started growing that was one of my all time favs. It was amazing and i tried to chase it down buying more and all i got was fruitier version of it. I think i hv had 12 blue cheese plants in my lifetime maybe. 2 would hv made the cut but i sucked at cloning and m/f timing back then.
This cross i labeled fruity blue cheese and never tried it yet. From 2019. I usually out cross stuff just to keep it around and then hunt back for the mom if can, and keep any new outliers.

A couple of projects i worked on the last couple years
Purple project: i hv a nostalgia for purple weed and remember growing up in the south people would be amazed when you had purple buds back then. And for me some purple/myrcene dom plants have helped wt muscle spasm/nerve pain.
I ran 2 mixes of males throughout a year. I keep picking at males to test and to delay pollen dropping.
1st mix ended up with 2 hawaiian king (cannaexotic), 1 blacklight fantasy (bodhi) 1 cactus flower (vashon)
2nd mix was 2 purple unicorn (bodhi), 1 hawaiian king, 1 purple dosi
I Made abunch of crosses that year, going through these the most nowadays
Purple congolese: i ran some congolese from real seed co. It was a crazy experience. I had one plant that went a year or so. It grew tall and had a ton of tiny branches with pencil eraser size flowers on the tips. It smelled like pencil eraser shavings kinda too?
It had red stems and would drop seeds in a weird way. The seeds would form in pairs inches down,away from the flowers. They were the easiest seeds to get to and just kept coming while the little buds up top never finished. A seed making machine of a plant.
I believe it could have caught both of those pollen mixes? It really went that long with almost reveg like growth. I still wonder if possible.
I just finished some of these seed's first try. i flowered outside when they were real small still. So far The plants finished quicker, had bigger buds than before by a good margain and have a cherry and leather terp profile. Its not super "loud" but the smell lingers on you for awhile. Really cool bc all of it was an experiment, now i really want to hunt through it.
Female seed project: a few years back i reversed some clones from plants i had around. I made fem seeds for friends that were new growers. Then they all stopped growing ? they all live in unfriendly states..
The female pollen donors were cookie crunch (dosi x stardawg gps) and twinkle tarts (esos). I forget all the moms but i do remember timing got all funky. I didn't get to all original target plants. I still managed to get many crosses made and found some fun stuff to revisit in those. I meant for twinkle tarts to only hit auto fems but i think it bled over to the photo fems too bc i find a common trait of a taffy like;, almost muted bubblegum terp in many of the crosses. Otherwise i cant explain where or how it got there.

Mainland buddy did grow this out and chopped recently. Owes me some pics ?
He found a full auto in some of my first chucks i sent around. It was toof decay (mephisto) x black animal pie (brisco). He did it bigger than i ever did. Almost makes me want to do bucket grows indoors again but it gets too hot here

My first experience with Forbidden Fruit was through a growmie. The bud he pulled out was the most brilliant magenta I have seen on a flower, the bud tasted insane like cherry mandarin with a tart hashy finish. I have searched high and low for that cut in clone and seed crosses, not one has come close not even a little. I am still trying to track down the source of the original cut here, I have heard it is still being held by someone I know, but they are elusive and tight fisted.

Howzit hunters?!
I wanted to start journal by now but i dont have much to show still. I am very behind for this year...
My smoke buddies think i am crazy too bc the small plants i hv going this year i still used to make seeds instead of worrying about buds. I Don't hv anyone around me that really is interested in chucking/breeding.
I got my veg tent restarted and i may start kicking some plants outside early just to make some room. I didn't mix my own soil for indoors and didn't hv much time so instead i bought a big cube of promix myco soil and it has been a problem for me. Its so soft all the time even after watering and packing soil down. it always seems loose in pots n cups. I believe it really messes with strong root growth, i get some floppy seedlings here and there.
i hv never been this behind on a summer season, it sucks but Oh well

I hv this week off work and noticed this little mantis has been hanging on this guava-z plant all week. Took a video of his leaf surfing in da wind. I find it highy motivational for some reason 😁

Mantis is still chilling. At night it goes under the leaf. If this thing wasnt seeded i would hv chopped, letting it go long but i need to find a new home for my guy soon
Not trying to change your mind bro but this tiny forbidden fruit s1 is getting such a complex bag of candy fruit smell i can't stop sniffing it. Can one sniff all the terps away? Oneday i smelled it aggressively and then i jumped in the car wt my kids. My littlest asked do u have any candy? I smiled internally as they couldnt figure it out. They usually no like the smells of my plants so an accidental positive review never happens! I'll take it 🤙🏽
I had a stressed veg tent months ago and many little plants went outside super early just cuz. This got some pollen from a jedi mind trip x columbian so i am interested in what it makes next!

surprisingly I haven't rubbed a hole into a stem yet either lol. I'd like to think that if your were around my garden and got in the car, the kids would have asked if you farted and forgot to shower lol.
