Perfect amount of lettuce and everything else. Damn that looks amazing. I might have to check out that king arthur bun recipe cause those were on point too. When are you opening your sandwich shop???

Probably would depend on the neighborhood, but if I had a shop, it'd be really tempting to name it "Bernie Sandwiches"....

[The garbage truck just took away my putrid smelling starter]
I opened my rye starter jar, day before yesterday, smell was sort a ok, but I did not like the color, an off gray over the top.
So as I clean the 1/2 pint jar out, I dumped it into my compost bucket, kind of full, just getting fragrant, and time to turn it into dinosaur vomit.
Dumped all the spent hummingbird feeders, into that slurry, and spread into the compost pit.

The garbage truck just took away my putrid smelling starter. My bakery is closed till the fall....This little house is not for summer baking or cooking. If I can't cook it outside, we ain't having it.
oh god, I'd forgotten about mine in the back of the fridge and I'm scared to open it now.....I got into a big sourdough kick for awhile to the point where my family wasn't even eating it anymore.....delicious though.

Too hot to be baking and firing up the oven for hours on end anyways....its grilling/bbq season for the next 3 months. Anything we can cook outside keeps the heat out of the house.
Oh you know that's right. I made mac and cheese on my flat top last night along with the beans and bbq chicken and johnny cakes. If I can't make it outside, I ain't making it LOL.
Although I wouldn't mind trying to maybe make some sort of loaf over coals, in my camp cooker. I live in a cape cod, so forget about even revving up the toaster oven in here.

I've made camp bread in a dutch oven before...it works but regulating the temp is a PITA. Just make flatbreads/tortillas etc you can cook without an oven til the weather changes back =).

One of the things I miss most about baking, is interacting with @UncleB
It's always a good time.
"Breaking bread" - even if it's just on this forum is true communion.

Been horrible about posting (everything). Just seem to be in a constant rush, and struggling to keep up with all the junk I'm into.

As for baking - the focaccia are a constant.
Still home milling about 20% of the flour. Just opened a bag of Warthog hard red wheat that was purchased in 2019 ....πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Worked just fine.

Central Milling had a sale over Memorial Day, and I picked up some Organic 00. May try to sling a couple pies on the 4th... we'll see. Like everyone is saying, it's hot (see below) but if the oven is gonna be on anyway, might as well make the most of it...

Thanks for pinging me @Mim Towls .
You're a true gent. We'll get through this slump, and will be carbing up big time real soon πŸ˜‰

Im in the same boat as you all. Let my starter go. Honestly, my family only liked the pancakes and brownies anyways. Turns out im the only one who likes sourdough bread. Its a lot of work for me to make myself some toast. I'll probably give it another go come winter. Ive got plenty of flour now thats for sure.
