Interesting…

Have to show this to my doctor...Takes me alot to step foot into a hospital or Dr office tho...For me.. Doctors are on the same level as lawyers and politicians..Find myself having very little trust in them due to past experiences

It took me many years before I found a good dr. Very experienced and not cocky. He knows that I have a good knowledge of pharmacology so he is open to me co-doctoring myself so to speak. He’s past retirement age now but still works cuz of his love for helping others. I dread the day that he’s gonna retire cuz then the search for a new dr of that caliber will be very difficult.

Oh man this is a extract...if there is sugar in it you definitely can't taste it. It's by no means tasty and pretty thick lol. Also have some tart cherry extract capsules

If you meant concentrated cherry juice that's basically like a cherry syrup there's definitely a decent amount of sugar in there. Should be on the back of the bottle on the nutrition label if so.

HBZ,
I'm a little late to the party, but I just saw your post.
This is a maintenance drug that I have taken for years.

In my case, it is used to help prevent uric acid kidney stones, but it is used for gout as well.
My late father suffered from gout and was prescribed the same drug.
Might be worth asking your Dr. about.
I have never had any side effects that I am aware of from taking this drug.
Hope you find a solution for your gout trouble.
That shit ain't no fun.
Cheers,
WillieP

I will write this down as I've already written down some things to present to my doctor... Actually had a appointment that I cancelled....docs and myself do not get along... Fairly mutual I reckon ...I know my doc crumbles when she talks with me..HATES the fact I don't just trust pharma drugs they try and mask ailments with.Gets frustrated when I look up the side effects during a visit and ask to many questions...I'm a firm believer doctors and pharm companies don't make a dime off of healthy ppl ,..How dare I question the chemicals they are trying to pump thru my system...Lol rant over ....I do appreciate ya offering the info and I will talk this over with my doc....Gout is no joke and weighing options ide use pharma. meds to avoid gout.. Gout can really mess with your mind at times...mega F- - - -kin intense

Colchicine for the acute attacks and allopurinol for maintenance. Had it for 20 yrs. That colchicine is some heavy shit. Take every hour for a day till you shit liquid, then quit takin it. Funny thing on it, when you start to have the diarrhea, you’ll fall asleep and wake up and the pain fever will have broken, along with that acute pain. Right before I started the allopurinol, I was having attacks every two weeks. I was a mad mofo ?. Don’t know if anyone, nor have I had any luck with natural remedies. Have to figure out what you are eating to trigger it. May be more than one thing. One friend, bowl of fresh strawberries he’d grow and eat every season. My kicker was the prime rib buffets, or the choc dessert on the buffets ?. I liked to eat and enjoy good food. I curbed it quite a bit, now I have to over a diabetes diagnosis last year. But gout pain is wild, more than once I had a pair of channel lock pliers on that big toe, figured it couldn’t hurt any worse ?. Pain make you crazy. But 200-300 mg of allopurinol daily is great maintenance, I’ve not had a spell in yrs. Lots of good liquids too, keep kidneys flushed. To note: that colchicine is what they used to reverse plants, isn’t it? Who knew? ?

Add: first time, I went to old navy Dr cause I thought I had broken toe, he took one look, started laughing, clued me in. Other thing I think is odd, lil off topic is that damn allopurinol which doesn’t cost me anything out of pocket, is the highest priced drug they charge Medicare for, more than my statin, or blood pressure pill, or metformin. Been around forever, you’d think it be cheap, prolly like the insulin price crap ?

Channel locks on that big toe? Brother I get it..It really does mess with your mind..Having a attack every couple weeks...Holy shit I couldn't imagine! The last attack lasted a couple months...This one is nearing it's end after the third week... definitely scheduling a meeting with the doc to discuss all this before I get the channel locks out...Or a chainsaw far as that goes

This has been my experience exactly. I would take Colchicine until it wrecked my stomach. At that point the pain, swelling and fever miraculously and suddenly disappeared. Everybody is different, but for me the key to controlling gout was pinpointing the trigger foods, and it all came down to ONE thing.......beer. Notice I didn't say alcohol, I said beer. When I was having severe gout years ago, even one sip of a cold beer would trigger throbbing in my feet. If I drank the whole thing I would be crippled and in excruciating agony for a week. When I stopped drinking beer (and I do love the taste of a cold beer), I stopped having gout attacks. I drink vodka now and haven't had a gout attack in over a decade. But, as a a remedy for an acute attack, Colchicine worked for me, just be prepared for the worst case of the shits you ever had.

Man sadly Im pretty sure it's the beer too...I've always been a big beer drinker..Long story short the gout was almost gone and I drank like 7 beers... Next morning full bore back for the attack wide open...Had a few stout tequila and squirt soda...(Try it) and it didn't flare me up for days...Hard pill to swallow man...I love beer ...Sam Adams Octoberfest just became available....Sum bullshit!

Yep. It's a bummer when you have to give up something you love. But, ask yourself this question, "Is drinking cold beer worth the agony that it triggers?' When hanging my leg off the side of the bed felt like someone was driving a railroad spike through my foot, the answer was HELL NO. Besides, I have become fond of vodka as it mixes well with several mixers, I never experience a hangover from drinking it, and it has far fewer calories. Titos and club soda with a lime twist tastes great! Try it.

One of the parents at my son's school has bad gout. He can't eat red meat any longer. That's a trigger for him. I have a rare form of rheumatoid arthritis. I was taking depo-medrol injections as steroids about every 5 months for 10yrs. My initial flare-up, doc thought it was gout.

Has your also tested for Lyme disease? Any tick bites from playing in the woods?

I am working my way through an ingrown big toenail. I will see my podiatrist in a week and he'll be my new best friend! I think we are going to remove the entire nail.
For the first 40 years of my life, I was bulletproof! What the hell happened???
Way late on the thread but gotta ask , did they pluck you whole toenail off ?
I’ve twice had to have my big toe nail removed and needles plunged into the end of my toe pre removal were no joke . I didn’t know to laugh or cry . I think I did a bit of both . I could swear the Doc had a smirk on his face when he said this might hurt a bit . Still , the second time was my fault when I used a Victorinox knife to clean my toes and created a problem . Yep idiot !!!

So I think I eat pretty damn healthy and I'm still having gout flares... This shit is taking everything out of my spirit not being able to function normally.

I'm fairly certain my body is just malfunctioning in some way whether it's deficient in vitamins, enzymes, etc.

I think my latest flare up was triggered by oxalates. I've been eating cacao and had some dandelion greens which I should have known not to have raw because I already knew oxalates can be part of the problem with gout.. well safe to say I've learned my lesson because I am sick and tired of this shit at this point. Going to avoid oxalates and do my best to figure out where my body is failing me.. if only I didn't have to wait 3 months for a doctor's visit

@InfiniteIndo

My condolences.
I have a coworker that really suffers.
I always keep an eye out when watching health vids and send the gout related ones to him. Below are two of the more recent ones.

I've watched all of these the infrared one was interesting I want to try that out. Dr bergs videos are where I first heard about oxalates playing a part with the kidneys and possibly gout actually. Lots of good information on his channel in general.
