Masterblend for tomatoes vs maxigrow/bloom?

Just curious if anyone still using these in 2023 or if everyone is living soil/organics only. I had bought one of the 5lb kits of masterblend to compare against my previous runs. Sure was easier to measure out 40g of dry salts for 10gallons vs spilling the liquid nutes all over.
I should prolly specify, RO water, DWC and ebb/flow.

I just the other day, ran myself out of Master Blend/Tomato food.
I usually buy a smaller size amount, and all I could find was bigger amounts than I wanted to get.
I ran up to PaHydro to see what dry ferts they had on hand, AND, that a simple mind, like mine can grasp.
I got my first Jacks seems very close to MB, but I'm just a few days into it.
Another grower I follow, is using the MB Strawberry formula, for cannabis, and seems to think it's more dialed in, IDK.

No I have not. Thank You I printed it out, to pin in my nutrient mix area.
That scale is pretty different from MB. MB was always 550-600 every time I mixed it up, to the label.
I'll fly their formula, as they suggest.
I do have to fess up, I'm one of the nutty old guy's, that will use organics right beside and/or with salt fertilizers.
I always hate to say it outright, as it always brings out the evangelicals on either side of the fertilizer church groups.
I like change, I embrace it, so yeah come on Jacks, hell they make the stuff in my state.
Thanks again for the chart.

It's the ratio that is relevant, not the strength/ppm. I mix 3 gallons worth of nutes in a 4 gallons of water and end up around 850-900ppm +/-.

I don't think you'll get too much of that here, we don't talk about religion. ;)

Everyone does their own thing, some people offer advice or experience, but if somebody starts getting pushy it would be surprising.

I used a fat sack of masterblend trio.
I have found the megacrop 2 part works better more consistantly...but i made fat ass flowers with MB.

And at the time you could not get jacks...and MC had no 2 part.

It smells a lot better than MC which smells like sulphur.

I just used the ratios you read about with jacks 3 2 1

the recomend from masterblend is meh

do 3 2 1

Masterblend 3 parts.....(tsp i used) mix til mixed..... Epsom salts 2 parts......Cal nit 1 part.

In veg i swap the epsom and cal nit

The rest of what i have will be used on tomato's !

I recently learned about the updated cannabis ratios. Have you seen this?

For the 5-12-26 base/ gal:
3.79 gr Jacks
2.52 gr cal-nit
.99 gr epsom
I just looked that over....holy shit, those are some high ppm.s there. That would roast my plants in dirt. Anything over 450 burns the tips. But I am about to mix a new batch, looks like a decrease in epsom and increase in A & B. Might try it out.

yeah we have tomotoes in the back so no major loss if its not optimal. I'd like to get some good dry ratios down though since its easier to mix the 20gal tank by weight instead of liquid volume.

Jacks was another formula that looked attractive to run, when mixing the larger volumes and dumping once per week it just gets pricey! With my current 80f temps and low rh I've been keeping ppm on the lower side so would probably dilute the recommended a tad.

dirt vs hydro recirculating would explain the ppm difference I believe. soil I would run half the current ppm. DWC I'm aiming to peak around 900ppm in flower then dial it back down.

Yeah, that's why I followed up with the post on ratios and dilution. That would be too strong for me as well at full strength.

I am feeling that here. As I'm here more, I really think you folks have grappled well, with speaking your mind, without personal attacks. Hey folks can tangle without hating each other. It would be very boring if we all agreed on everything...oh wait, I found a site like that, once, and it was boring, and I guess their trolls, thought everyone was a pilgrim that came to their site. It's gone now.
I really enjoy my time here!

It is all about the tone, I believe.
We don't have to do much moderating because the place moderates itself with its atmosphere. People look around and if they feel they don't fit, they tend to move on. Trolls realize they have nobody to fight with so they move on. We're left with decent, respectful people who enjoy cannabis. The breeding/chucking aspect attracts both more artistic creative types as well as practical DIYers which makes for a huge and varied knowledge base to draw upon.
