Trichome check. Ready?

I'm feeling kinda rough today, but I made it up to the grow tent to check on the girls. Strain is Ragnar's Hammer auto and there's two of 'em. Supposed to be 75 day plants and today's #75, but of course I take that with a small grain of salt. Maybe another week, or are they ready?

If you can zoom out abit and take some regular view bud pics.
Looks like alot of white hairs. Imho not done until all the white pistils turn red and curl in to make a bud.
3 more weeks minimum imo

It looks earlier than what I'd call optimal, but, I can't stress this enough; the time to pull, is almost entirely based on the effects you get from a specific plant, at different times. Some pull at just before mostly cloudy to try and not get much couch lock depending on terps, and some pull at 90% cloudy for the highest THC. Personally for me, I go until I see about 20 or 30% Amber, but that's personal preference for my can't stay asleep ass lol.

I'm looking for that couch lock, some bedtime weed. I might toss in sometime that leans sativa next time around, but this grow is dedicated to sleepy time.

I took a couple more pics today and I'm thinking they're not quite there yet, but I bow to the wisdom of...well just about anyone probably knows how to judge this stuff better than I. This is day 82 on autos that are supposedly 75 day plants. I'll say this much, they may be (intentionally) small plants, but they've been packing on more weight this past week.

Those still have 2 or 3 weeks left . Wait for all the white hairs to turn and the buds to get hard . Those do not look close to me .

Get away from autos if you can they are easy and good quality now from what i understand but why run them?. They end up most of the time taking almost as long as photos and burn more energy at 18 to 20 hrs a day in flower instead of 11 or 12 for photos. Breeders times are not your environments time. Finishing times are unique to you and your style and environment dont expect timing to be the same as a breeders or someone running co2 and total environmental control.

More time left for sure. I started ignoring the pistols after I had a plant that threw new pistols up till the day of chop with so much amber the dust pile after trim was red. It actually looked pretty cool and was heavy behind the eyes.

The other auto strain from this seed bank I ran were ready right at 75 days from seed to harvest. These are taking a bit longer, but still much quicker than photos.

Have you checked out 1212seeds.com ? They breed specifically for small tents and 12/12 from seed. They’re also a sponsor on here. Looks like they have some fire. I have some on the way to test out.

Imho you make some claims that are not necessarily true.
I really doubt that auto was done seed to harvest at 75 days. Even if it was just a tiny single stalk, you probably harvested early.
10 weeks seed to harvest? Not likely. But not impossible I guess.

Plenty of photoperiod plants that stay short. Training plants can keep most polyhybrids short, if your very strategic with hard topping and lst.

Autos are not faster than photoperiod. If they are the yield will suffer where it's a zero sum outcome.

Not abit longer, you have minimum 2 weeks left if not 3-4 for that plant to be ready. Sorry to be that guy, but I'd rather say how it is so you know. I remember back in the day there were so many threads, is this ready? Always the answer was if your asking, it's not done. Wait.

Seed companies will misrepresent their strains, plus enviornment makes a big difference like @Chefdave said.

There isn’t a reaction emojis to convey my excitement of your post here! I’ve been preaching the same thing at the grow store for years!

I think autos were invented by the big corporations just so us stoners use more energy and waste more time on a plant that can easily be cultivated in tiny spaces, and is super short times. Or I guess for outdoor growers who want to have two harvest in a year it could make since.

My average tent grow with selected clones tskes 55-60 days start to finish. Plug clones into 3s or 5s, veg for 1 week and flip.


Also finish times are just a crapshoot cause of genetic differences in every seed! How can anyone give an accurate time of a seedling without growing it out and keep a clone? I don’t know? They would be more honest to say 75-120 days. Or something like that.

I agree with the part that autos are kind of a "waste of light energy", but outdoors if you time it right, you can get 2 or more harvests a year

I was totally referring to inside. I agree in places that the light shines outdoors you can get 2 outdoor harvests

I understand why you'd be skeptical about the length of the grow, and I'm not claiming I had a huge harvest. The last grow I had of this strain (and I've only run it twice) I just went back and checked my log. I cut her on day 79 and quite honestly, I probably should have cut a day or so sooner. The trichomes were full amber. I hits very nice, and BTW it maxed out at about 36". You're right on one thing though, I definitely need to upgrade my grow skills. I'm not even certain what you mean by polyhybrids, that's a new term to me but I'd like to learn. Here's the seeds I used.

I'm patient with these girls in the current grow, but this is a new strain for me and it's running longer than advertised. No problem, I'm not in a rush.

OK, my personal opinion is that the girls are ready, or very close. How far off is my judgement.

I’d let it go longer for the
Couch Lock effect that you’re looking for.
Also if you’re using your phone camera to capture the Trichomes
Zoom the camera fully in and then move it away from your subject slowly. You should see that this will help the lens focus and you should be able to capture the tones of your Trichomes better. But from what I’m seeing, I would let them ride longer.
No need to rush them. And you won’t have anything but Grass if you don’t dry and cure properly. That’s usually where people F-up

So are you only saying longer because I'm looking for couch lock?

I used my cell phone for the top bud picks, but the ones that are zoomed in I did with a USB camera. It's a pain and I don't have the steadiest hands in the world. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Drying and curing haven't been hard for me. I dry for over a week in a small grow tent with the fan on. I monitor humidity and temp. Usually I only have to adjust the humidity by placing a small tray of water in the tent. Then the trimming, and straight into Grove bags for the cure and storage. I keep all of the stash in a small wine cooler at 60F.

I’m using the phone now I’ll check in within a couple hours with the laptop and see if it looks any different.
But currently I’m not seeing much and the photos appear to lack details

The last two photos of the colas look milky/clouded and the first couple photos look like there could be some amber, however that could be purpling of the leaf coming through the transparency of the trichomes.
