Dry Ice Hash

I have been reading a lot about dry ice hash and i am going to give it a go. I have a few jars of older stash that is being replaced with newer stash.

I can get dry ice about 3 miles from my house

We also offer a variety of dry ice nugget sizes from 1/4", 5/8" and 3/4" diameters by 1/4" to 1 1/2" long.

What size pellets you think would work the best? I will be using 5 gallon bags (i have all mesh and just bottom mesh bags).

I think for dry ice mesh bottom is preferred to all mesh (mess factor) but if you have any insite...or make sure you do this or that (tips or tricks) i would appreciate it.

I will probably use a 90 or a 74 bag and see what happens. I have them all (25/45/74/90/120/160/190/220) Thanks !

If it makes way more hash....and that hash can go in my dab press with a 25 or 37 micron rosin bag....well that might work out pretty damned good.

Dry Ice is 2 miles from my house and during the summer is 2 bucks a pound.

I got 10 pounds and he almost filled my cooler. I still have a bunch in the cooler but im tired of shake shake shaking.

The yields...i dont needt to weigh to know they are incredibly better.
The brad bowl is the 190 shakedown after i did the firest pass. The tops are all goofy because the stuff is STICKY....and dry ice got stuck to it when the 190 burst a hole.

Full mesh bags and a BIG picture frame did it for me.

The red bowl is a bunch of 90 micron Nigerian X Apollo (Synergy)

This hash was all made in 1 hour. The terps are on overload too. Fantastic.

I will still run bubble especially when you have a lot of material but a couple of pounds of dry ice would sure make quick work of trim.


The clear plastic dish is full of Vietnamese Silver Leaf 120 (74 to 120)

The little mason jar is 74 micron VSL....And holy shit is that S A F....I am amazed. And very very high with a pea sized tan piece of hash i just made. Smoke it right away if you want.

The little dish is fresh chopped from yesterday WhiteBread Auto....still too sticky for rosin and i figured what the hell lets try it.

It took a little longer to freeze up...and i had the buds whole...when they were good and rock solid i smooshed em all together with the dry ice pellets til they were more powdery. This one is a very light tan. The flash makes them look greener than they are but you do bring in more leaf matierial than with bubble.

with double or triple the yields.

Its a damned dinosaur egg. I am going to do a lot of dry ice hash. Bubble is stronger but the bullshit factor is 10X dry ice.

so dino egg will not press....and so it should not.

What it shows me is how efficient dry ice is at extraction of trichs. Last night hours after my bucket was in the garage (80F) and that bucket had 1 inch of solid ice all around the bottom...i said what the hell and shook the green right out of it.

This morning all that is left is truly garbage in the 190...i can shake it and not even a piece of dust will come out of it and there is about 6 ounces of plant matter in the bag

So it is GREAT if you want to make edibles and not pull in as much chloraphil

I put the whole lump in the ardent with 20 rosin pucks...6 were 2 press and 14 are still dripping with rosin i dont want to touch (sticky shit gives me the heeby jeebies so its a challenge making rosin).

That is in 3 cups of coco oil on decarb less a 10 gram lump i kept out...i weighed out 1 gram of it and ate it..

So that still has some zip to it...let me tell you. I would guess 1 gram is still putting out 250 to 300 mg of thc judging by the dry mouth...headband stone creeping in...

It is too bad you cant run bubble...then take that crap left over and dry ice it to get EVERYTHING you can and dump it in edibles. That may be my next experiment because that would be as waste free as you get.

I was amazed the first time I used dry ice. I think it does a lot better job of cleanly "snapping" the heads off rather than the more crushing action of the regular ice. The run colors were much more vivid and the taste stronger. The price of dry ice is so cheap I would never do an ice water run again.

Check your higher end grocery stores, many may carry it for shipping meat. Thats where I get it from around me.

@OldG Hell yeah man that looks like some quality hash right there! I've made some good dry ice hash and some total bullshit dry ice hash that was closer to straight grinder kief lmao, and yours definitely looks better than the good stuff I made. Excited to see how it squishes for you. That may make me rethink a press.

I get mine from the grocery chain Harris Teeter. I'm sure some welding and gas supply stores carry it. Cheap Amazon bags are what I prefer, use them a couple times and throw them out. They get gummy.

now that i understand it...the next run will be better.

It is kind of like bubble...you can beat the shit out of it and make hash but if you can do it gently...that is much better hash.

The 73 bag (and i will try the 45 next time)...that is AMAZING hash. Much more terp punch than bubble. Strength wise, mabye on the larger micron its a bit weaker but the good stuff is plenty strong.

And the edibles with that 160 lump are really really strong. but if it is 30% thc...x 50 grams that is 15000 mg of thc and then i infused it in 3 cups of coco oil with 15 rosin pucks.

I love ice hash because the quality and flavor of the edible coconut oil are amazing. The oil is neutral in flavor and the strongest i have EVER made. I slept once this week for 10 hours because i ate too much of it...thats new.

In my neighborhood Kroger and Meijer have it. Meijer keeps it in a bin by the front registers. You have to ask for it. Age restrictions to buy it. 18+

Yeah, those seem to be the common suggestions, but unfortunately neither chain exists where I'm at. I've never seen it at any of the grocers near me, but I'm gonna do some searching today. I have half a 5 gallon bucket of trim to process and @OldG has me feeling inspired

Call around and ask. Turns out lots of places have it just none advertise it. I was surprised to find it so close to home.

Because it is a gas....it skips the liquid state. It is the -78 F cold...wear gloves but if you are not handicapped you can use those work gloves that are like 20 a dozen.

It is really fucking amazing to tell the truth....my 90 and under hash is as good as my temple balls except the terps are way pumped up.

I do bong rip my hash...i smoke a lot of it. It is a shortcut that will change your life because i kind of dread a bubble run. My hands are fucked from text gaming....i mean working as an excel master....and the cold water ...takes hours.

I will take a 50% THC hash in my bong...i dont care if it melts i rip it. And IT IS GOOD...Great actually.

So a quick Google search was my first step but apparently dry ice isn't particularly common where I'm at for whatever reason. There were no results. We used to have a place called Emergency Ice but their voicemail says they're temporarily closed due to labor shortages.... so that's fun! I'm sure I'll track some down somewhere.

I also do not enjoy bubble runs, hence why I've been sticking to my hand rolled dry sift. Which I do enjoy making, but it's not very efficient. I also accidently stabbed a hole in my trim bin screen last night tossing my trimming sheers like a stoner idiot...

been dry-ice-ing - can't beat it - 160 - 120 - 90 mics/ ====== works well but depends on strain - and only use one bag One thing that Frenchy taught me was "if making hash let plant GROW - increased trichomes, terpenes with extended flower times - meaning harvest when plants are really, really ripe" (add at least 2 weeks to flower for ripe plants)

I grabbed 5 lbs of Dry Ice on the way home the other day. 80 grams later............it is unlikely I will do bubble again. I shook it sparingly and it was amazing yields.
I hotwater rolled a out about 30 g and the hash is quite hard and smokable right away.
I'm a fan!
