just dropped 4 BB beans in a shot glass

Hello all,

I am progressing in my gardening. I have learned what good genetics are after a couple years of struggling with crap genetics. I just dropped 4 Bruce Banner Original F2's in a shot glass. 12 hours or so in the spring water (with a drop of liquid kelp) and I'll transfer directly into a prepared solo cup. I use Jiffy starter mix. After losing beans to dry spots in the starter mix I have learned to put the dry mix into a large mixing bowl, add water and mix like my life depended on it. Then I transfer the slurry to solo cups. The solo cups have drain holes burned around the bottom edge and so once filled I leave them in the sink to drain the excess water.

Once drained I plant the seed about 1/8" - 1/4", put the cup on a warming mat and cover the cup to keep moisture in. In 3-5 days Ill have a new project.

So until I have seedlings...

Welcome, I will be popping in to see these. What medium do you plan to grow in?
Re-amended FF Ocean Forest, mostly. As I use NFTG nutes I re-amend with 1-shot (a NFTG all-in-one product) and Lime (Calcium Carbonate) because I have discovered that the low ph drift is strong with my water/nute/media combination. I have tried working 1/4 cup of CC Lime / 3 gallon media in with past grows but even then the ph drifted down. These days I amend with 1/2 cup per 3 gallons. The NFTG nutes are uber acidic and when in mid flower and really pushing the plants the amount of HH (liquid bone meal) is challenging to offset.

Best of luck with them! Bruce Banner can be nice smoke. F2s can be a fun journey. Try soaking seeds for 36-48 hours in the water and kelp. They’ll crack and throw tails floating on the top.
I only just recently pulled my head out concerning genetics and these F2's were the best I could do. I wanted really any legit version of BB and the only one to be had were the original BB F2's. To show my breeding ignorance I have to ask about the F2 designation. I purchased these directly from Dark Horse Genetics and they describe the seeds as F'2 , the parents of which were the original male and female Bruce Banner plants. That would make them F1's according to my understanding. But what the hell do I know... and in the end it doesnt matter much to me, its better genetics than Ive ran thus far whatever F version they happen to be.
Which brings me to some Bodhi seeds I havent planted yet. I just purchased a few Bodhi seeds from GLG and there is no indication on the zip bag of what type beyond regular seeds they are. Again, it doesnt matter much to me except in aiding in the reduction of my learning curve

I think of you search sun ra here you will find at least one grow here.
Excellent! Ill check it out. Though when I will get around to growing that strain is anybodys guess. Im mostly collecting some fire genetics for who knows when. With GLG and their recent sale Ive already collected more than I intended to. Ive gotta be stealthy AF so I try to keep it small. Ive already got enough seeds to last me till...
Best hobby ever!

*Forgive me if I'm telling you anything you already know. Just trying to answer the questions I think you're asking*

Seedfinder has Dark Horse's Bruce Banner listed as a non-specified OG Kush ("from 2004") as the mother plant, and Strawberry Diesel as the father.
Crossing 2 unrelated strains makes for an F1, or First Filial generation. (Whether their OG and SD are distantly related is another can of worms)
But that cross would be the Bruce Banner F1s.
Crossing a male and female who are both Bruce Banner F1s would give you the second generation, aka F2.
F2 generation is also generally where you'll get more phenotypical variety, which is why some here said enjoy the hunt. You should get a variety of phenos to choose from to find your favorite...More strawberry, or maybe more fuelly, etc

If you're asking which generation the Bodhi beans are, they're all usually F1 crosses of one of his millions of mothers, and one of a few fathers.
You may find F2s of Bodhi stuff here and there, but usually made by others and passed out. If they're on GLG, they're usually given as freebies, and only if that strain isn't actively worked by Bodhi anymore.
There are some slight variations of work that Bodhi does though, which will show up as V2 or Remixes. He'll either swap mother and father, or use a different male from the same line, etc...But those are explained in the descriptions.

If you wanna check out an old archive of Bodhi strains from like 2014, it should explain some of the genetics you ordered recently.

Any other questions, I'm sure someone here's got answers, so ask away!

Ah yes I see. The thing is that to ID a phenotype that you like, would involve I guess waiting until harvest and cure to find the excellent bud and then revert to the clone that I assume one would take to make this process work, yes?

Thats exactly what I was asking, thanks. I figure that at some point down the road while running regs Im gonna be tempted to make some seed

Yep, ya gotta grow out each seed, preferably take clones of each before flower, label accordingly, grow them, finish them, sample, and keep the clones of your favorite.

And, yeah, I'd imagine you'll be tempted to make a seed, or hundreds, once you see how easy it is. This hobby can be pretty addictive, if nobody has warned you yet ;) (y)

Obama Kush is great smoke. You’re correct about hunting to find the keeper you’re looking for. If you don’t want to keep clones alive for all of flower and dry you can take larger cuts and store them in the fridge for 60-90 days and then root the ones out you think look worth it. Or you can just reveg the ones that look like keepers before the smoke test. Best of luck with it!

Edit: I’m sure you already know, but Founding Fathers site has Obama Kush and the crosses. He’s, Redbeard, a friend of Caleb/Nspecta/CSI and found the Obama Kush plant in a hunt they were doing. Heads up, Bubba does veg slow.

Sorry, just saw this... I would like to investigate a legit Obama strain as what I got from an unnamed seed distributor tended to herm every F'n time. Im enjoying the last of it now. And no, I didnt already know about Founding Fathers site... have to check it out. Though if I spend another dollar on seeds things might get ugly at home
Thanks very much for the reply
