Did a course today with Emergency Support Services. I will be taking on a role within the team providing assistance in case of evacuations to or from our county.
So a member of the pHenohunter underground freedom railroad to get us growers into and or out of the country? lmfao
I attended as a volunteer, but had some really good talks with management regarding taking a larger role in developing the program. As I said then, I'd like an opportunity to use my powers for good instead of evil. :)

I'd love to be able to use the skills I've gained in industry in a non-profit-driven position, working with people I respect as opposed to greedy, amoral bastards. This seems like a chance to do that, and to meet some solid people in the community.
That my friend is friggin awesomesauce right there if it all gets to workk out for ya.

Do it yourself electricity production?
Covered there.

Or DIY Darwin award? , trying to close that connection yourself ?
I think I am on my 3rd report today. Getting to know Stephanie at the call center. They keep clearing it out saying we are good. Stopped a truck in the hood addressing other issues and they don't have executive authority to pull off their assigned task.

So whatcha got @Jewels ?

It might be the transformer, 2 blue pops last night when they were restoring a widespread outage had my eyes closed, thought I was having a stroke or something.

After wrapping my house in metal lathe for the stucco my house became mostly a faraday cage.
Lost cell and radio signal for the most part unless you were near a window. lol Had to get a cell phone booster module from the cell company so I can take calls in the house now. Radio on my nightstand only gets part of any station and is over rode with static. Sounds alot like the charlie brown teacher. lmfao

But I guess I did whack @JL2G a little too hard.
Whats really on my mind is wanting to put some pHenohunter slaps on this new laptop I bought for work, but don't wanna advertise to the folks at this new job that I'm all up into the weed scene. Lmfao.
Sorry bro, think you want the other thread

Unless of course you ended up putting that slap on. ;) 20240428_155110.jpg

Guessing you haven't heard a song from the Smashing Pumpkins called Bullets with Butterfly Wings? I did my usual silly pun with a slight rewrite of the lyrics so it's OK.

Seeing how you treat those Jenny's I'm just glad he's still alive bro... lol

Fighting urges to say slaps on a laptop are violent when the "touch" command in Unix would work... ah hell I just did it... lol.

You still have snow??

Anyway, all jokes and puns and attempted humor aside, I'm awaiting a stem rub on that Skunk from Amarok. I can't run mine yet :( those deserve a proper hunt, selection, and preservation so I'm going to have to wait. I do have high hopes though.

Man, I don't know whether I feel more dumb or more happy.

Got caught up on a few years of taxes back in February. Been waiting for the direct deposits to show up in my account since then.

I had assumed they were holding everything back until they'd finished with all the various years, and I had just received a request for documents relating to the house purchase, so I thought there was still a month or two of red tape between me and my refunds.

I have an account with a second institution that I only use for my insurance payment. I make a transfer a couple times a year and rarely check it. I signed in to that account to see if I needed to top it up and found out that the various deposits have been going into that one for two months. Not sure how I got mixed up, but man, what a relief.

Car should be back on the road this week. It took forever for stupid little gaskets to be sourced from the OEM, but it sounds like it will be a reasonable repair bill.
In a heart warming moment on Friday, the gal at the shop expressed her sympathy on the delay and then asked if there was anything I needed from the city. Yeah, she offered to shop for me.

I was a little concerned. We had a chat the previous time I'd dropped in, and when she'd asked about my thoughts of local life I was honest. I expressed my views, which do not match those of the average rural Albertan. Afterwards I had visions of my car being pushed to the back of the queue, but apparently I expressed myself in an acceptable way. 🤷‍♂️

I intentionally lean into the persona of the rough talking redneck. Over the decades, I've found if I'm going to reach any of these folks, if they are going to listen to anyone from outside the echo chamber, that person has to look and sound like them, even if the words are new. It's a game I've played on a thousand jobsites. I win and I lose, but I never regret ante-ing up. :)
