ILGM

Seedling
ILGM was bought by Barney's Farm and they have a 2.2 Trustpilot. I received 20 seeds and 13 didn't germinate and 6 didn't sprout and one is on life support. Asked for my replacement as guaranteed and they are ignoring me. Crappy seeds. Crappy customer service. And Crappy company. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! By the way, I'm a farmer and all of the other seeds I got from elsewhere are doing great. Also, I heard ILGM gives your information to local authorities.

I don't know about giving info to local authorities but it has been known for awhile that ilgm does white labeling. often the name used for their strain names is their version of, or completely unrelated to the strain that was represented.

I have had the best experience buying breeder direct from someone who is easily reachable if you have questions. Local breeders that are not as advertised often are holding fire that will do well since you are in a similar enviornment. Virtually local aka in your virtual canna community is also great with tools like this forum and discord providing info and growalongs on the beans they carry as well as a nice community that supports eachother.

A lot of people have had good experiences with ilgm and a lot not as good such as yourself. But I can bet money that it will be meaningful and impactful when growing gear from the communities you are in. Just my two cents please add your own grains of salt.

never got seeds from them and don't care for their forums

What's happening at Barneys' A big "Buy-Out" that's one to take care of the competition Now !! barney's will have another site to promote
From my reading it looks like they might be using the same white label seed stock in spain anyways or upcoming in the future. I wonder who the unsung breeders are as I am sure that some are better than others when it comes to quality control and testing. I don't know why I am wondering as I am more into local beans (local to me or within the online communities I frequent). That being said I occasionally get some white label or euro big brand things through my growventures and bean swaps and trades. At the end of the day the smoke tells no lies and I can't say I have had anything that stands out for me personally from the times I have dabbled with white label gear.

Same here - I agree !!

I also recently, learned of bad Barney information. Well it is to my knowledge anyway.
I've been a faithful PAHydro shop user.
From Gary's first weeks, after getting started all those years ago.
He is such a great guy, and really try's very hard to be a great shop.

About 2 years ago now, I saw he started having some seeds packets for sale in his shop.
They were not being kept cold, just in a display, in the closet.
I said, almost every breeder I speak with keeps their stock cold.
He sort of recoiled a bit and said, are you sure? I do not keep any vegetable seeds cold, and they are fine.
I replied back nor are they $10.00 a seed either.

So about a month later I ride up, gather up my stuff, as I'm paying him, and he said, Barneys, told me, they never keep any seed cold nor do they tell the vendors they need to.
I said, well good luck with that, but we'll agree to disagree.

My first ever seed order was through ILGM, didn't know any better. Got White Widow, Super Skunk and Bubblegum. Nothing good at all on the WW, found a couple decent plants in the Super skunk, and 1 really nice Bubblegum. That Bubblegum is still one of my favorite plants I've grown. While germination rates were horrible, and most of the plants were lacking., I don't knock them too much because of that one plant I got. I'd never recommend them to anyone though, not only do the seeds suck they're so expensive. I'd feel like a real leech if I made my living off the gullible and uninformed.

Same thing here, but I've got hundreds of their seeds, mostly from Phylos that I bought early last year when I started growing. I agree and am living proof on the gullible and uninformed comment....

I totally am perplexed by how it's supposed to be done. U think, they should get the seeds, put them in a fridge. Sell them, they go in room temp and outside through the mail. Then u get them and stick them in the fridge. There has to be some moisture going on in the packs. I don't know, maybe it would be best to not fridge them at the source.....

Oh yeah, I totally understand your POV.
I guess, for me, many breeder sites, have a story about this person or that person that is bring back some long lost cultivar from the past, many times, involves years, or decades of refrigerator storage time.
Not picking on Todd Mac, he listed the receipts from Mel Frank's 3 refrigerator replacements, as proof of correctly storing them.
AI tells me, for a few months, that it may not be necessary, but longer time frame, may be a better choice.
So, yeah, maybe Barneys telling him skip the cold, falls in line with their practices, but for me, I'll gladly not purchase any, so others can have all they want, that is my good deed, LOL!

just store in darkness in a air tight container at room temps (in a drawer)

Ilgm always had a weird feel to me. Now I'm not trying to preach to anyone but between GLG and DCSE
You can't go wrong. I have only good things to say about both.

And, you guys here on the forums I'm still appreciative and humbled by your generosity.

I will do some updates soon and NAME NAMES LOL some of y'all got the fire👍
