In Bloom
This science experiment started today. I've been discussing with a few friends the best way to use the Rooted Leaf products in a self-watering wick system. There's no real guidance from Rooted Leaf other than you can only use Primer A/B and Silica skin in the reservoir. All the other products in their lineup become immediately biologically active in water, so they aren't suitable for a reservoir.
There are 4 posted feed charts on the Rooted Leaf website, so I'm going to use all four, one in each box to see what proves to work best. I bought the full line during the 42% off sale for 420, so I have all the products to follow the feed charts.
I also bought the Rain Science mesh pots during the 420 sale, so testing those as well.
All 4 boxes will have exactly the same seed, light intensity, pots, soil and ventilation. The only variable will be the feed chart used for each box.
There are 2 boxes on the left and 2 boxes on the right each connected to an APC 1000w uninterruptable power supply that provides roughly 23 minutes of power at the Vgrow maximum load during a power outage. I tested this by turning everything to full power on both boxes and unplugging the APC.
The boxes and pots are color coded and labeled so I don't mix them up when taking them out for top feeding or foliar misting.

The light intensity is set to 100% which equates to roughly 425-450 PAR in the Vgrow using the vegetative spectrum at 12/12. This spectrum will remain in vegetative until at least week 4 of flower, which will then switch to the Flowering spectrum which is heavy on the red and adds a touch of far red.

Seed - Alien Apple Breath S1 tester from 1212 Seed Company
Pots - Rain Science 3 gallon mesh pots
Soil - Paonia Soil Company Bomb 50/50
Nutrients - Rooted Leaf Agritech full line
The soil was conditioned with Rooted Leaf's Root Anchor 6ml/gal, CalMag Fuel 8ml/gal and Silica Skin 7ml/gal before going into the pots.
50mm Jiffy Pellets were soaked for 48 hours in distilled water with 1/16 tsp of Recharge.
The seeds were soaked in the dark for 12 hours in a 1% H2O2 solution, then transferred to the distilled water with Recharge used for hydrating the Jiffy Pellets for an additional 8 hours.
