Ohwolfie's grows

Sorry for the extended hiatus guys. Been really busy with work and other stuff throughout the Summer. Working long hours, taking care of the family (+pets). Ripper is doing well, but he got fat. We also rescued a 5 week old kitten off the side of the highway a few weeks ago. She's about 9 weeks old now. Gonna name her Pumpkin I think. It took a while to reach a semi consensus as a family on a name. Not everyone likes it.

In other news, we are headed to Birch Run Michigan for our 3rd Z Labs Reunion (9th overall) on Friday. I'm super excited for that! Big love to @Bad Dawg and family for inviting us again. It's an absolute honor and pleasure.

Lastly, after 20 years of nearly continuous long hair, I cut it short. Too hot outside for those long locks. I'll eventually grow it back, but for now I'm going to enjoy the ease of short hair.

More to come with new Blueberry hybrids and more. Stay tuned.

Bro, if you have time, there is a restaurant called Leo's, and it's REALLY good. Get a Coney Dog and a Cheese Burger, they do things right.

Been a while since I've posted anything here. Sorry for the hiatus. Been busy with life, and everything that entails.

Here are some MOB x Blueberry plants that I'm testing. I made these in the spring, and decided to toss a bunch of seeds into a few 3 gallon pots.

The left and right plants are in the same pot btw. The one on the left favors MOB, the one on the right Blueberry. The right plant had a few nanners pop out underneath. A total of 3. The left plant is solid so far. This picture is from week 6. They are about week 7 as of today. The MOB leaner is going to be ready earlier it seems.

The Blueberry leaner has a deep sort of berry smell. Definitely from the Blueberry side. A bit like tart blueberry. There's some kind of artificial smell to it though. Like candy but not as sweet.

Not sure why it's turned in the photo.. @week 7. Earlier this evening.

The MOB leaner. This is a pic from week 6.

Lots of purple in the flowers.

@week 7. Turned for some reason. My phone just updated to Android 14. So maybe that's why the pictures are turned. This one smells like berry, with some grape juice. A lot like MOB but not as loud.

BTW, the attachments above are also MOB x Blueberry. The more squat plant is a dead ringer for MOB in terms of smell, though it doesn't really look like her in terms of leaf shape. Doesn't look like she's going to stretch, which is a MOB trait.

I'm going to say something blasphemous. If this hybrid turns out to be as good or better than MOB, I am really considering getting rid of the cut. MOB is cool to breed with, but not the best plant to grow. The terps are nice, and the buzz is relaxing and happy Nothing exceptional really. She sucks to grow. She's super resilient and tough (which is something she usually shares with her offspring) but she's also stupidly squat and dense. She will mold indoors. Even in a dry room. But if any moisture gets trapped in all of the dense buds and foliage, you can count on mold. You have to defoliate religiously. It's too early to toss her out yet. But if this cross turns out to be better, there's really not much reason to hold her.

A couple bananas in late flower is nothing new for anyone familiar with REAL bluebery. One of my best cuts of true BB back in the day always put out nanners in weeks 7-9. For the bud I got...it was totally worth the nanners and just part of the package. Looking good Wolfie!

4 MOB Magoo girls, one fabric 3 gallon pot. I dropped these seeds in this pot a little while back as part of an experiment. I wanted to see if I could use this technique to grow more plants in a smaller space. I wasn't expecting all girls. I've got 2 other 3 gallon fabric pots filled with plants in the veg tent.

3/4 of these girls are MOB dominant. The one on the bottom left is Blue Magoo dominant. She smells floral like Blue Magoo and is bigger and taller than her sisters. She's what I call the Blue Magoo on steroids pheno.

If I were wanting to filial breed this round, that would be the pheno I'd select for. I want bigger plants in this line. I'd rather have MOB terps, but I'm sure I could pull those out in the F2s. In all of the F1s I've made with MOB, her terps don't seem to get watered down.

In addition to those, I've got 14 Family Vault Purple F3s. I started with 15 but culled a weak runty one. Unfortunately there's not much room in a 3x3 and my other 3 tents have cuts in them. I'm going to make some F4s and other hybrids if all goes well. I'd like to select from 30-40 plants but it is what it is. FVP is pretty consistent so I should get a slight variation of the same thing. As you can see in the plants in the photo, they all look somewhat similar. In males I'm going to select for the Lavender ish stem rub (because it translates to the flower smell), resin (if applicable) sexual stability, and size. Not necessarily in that order. But those are the things that I want.

In all honesty this is more like a seed increase than a breeding project due to the smaller population. But if I find a quality male, I plan to store some pollen for future breeding projects.

Some Family Vault Purple F3 females. Pretty uniform. I've got a total of 7 males and 7 females. No photos of the males today as they are in a separate room and I didn't want to move them. They are starting to drop a little pollen.

Aside from the first plant being shorter and more squat than her sisters, these plants are remarkable similar. Some minor variation. They all smell grapey at this point.

There's more photos but they won't upload. Oh well I guess.

I'll be making F4 , and other hybrids down the road. I need to get them all to root because my moms aren't doing very well atm. Other than Urkle and GG4. The rest of them are root-bound and don't look very happy. So fingers crossed.

Well, somehow I managed to fuck this post up with the photos.. Lol.

Any issues with having multiple seeds in one pot? What's your medium?
Yeah, definitely some nutrient deficiencies happening. Especially because 3 gallons is not a lot of room for multiple plants. Especially the longer you let them grow before flipping. You basically deplete all of the nutrients in the soil, and the pot becomes totally root-bound.

The 4 plants above were still pretty green when flipped. I have more in a veg tent that I'm probably going to take cuts from, and flower out. Rather than have the seed plants continue to compete with each other.

The thought process was, plant 4 seeds. 2 will be male, 2 will be female. But this round, it was all females but 1 plant (there may be another male who hasn't shown sex yet.).

I'm growing in a recycled mainly peat based mix. With a hefty dose of vermicompost, bokashi, dry amendments, frass, etc.
