Perpetual clone keeping!

Curiosity has me thinking about the preferred way of keeping clones in the long run. Ive been maintaining a few clones now for about a year now in small supersoil/live soil pots. Basically just want to keep them small, dormant, but healthy. How long do most folks let the mother plant go before it gets replaced by the new clone?

Awesome! For some reason I couldn't find alot on the subject. I have a few that I've kept in 4" tall nursery pots and solo cups for about 6 months. I also have a few recently that are in 1.5 gal pots that are now way too big, was anticipating passing around a few cuts. Ive noticed that cool temps with adequate light helps to keep them dormant, but they also get a bit unhealthy looking after awhile that way. I guess I'm still trying to find that balance without wasting soil and space. Thanks for all the feedback!
