Game 3 tonite. I do like Edmonton so I hope they win both at home to tie up the series. Getting back to the Finals is not easy to do so Panthers earn my respect.

A die hard Flyers fan so usually have to root for somebody else since we suck. Another rebuilding year ahead I fear.

I have a love/hate relationship with Marchand. I hate him but would love him on the Flyers. lol.

I've been an Oiler fan since the WHA days but care less and less every year.
I can't relate to the players anymore. They used to be just regular kids that were good at hockey but now they are pulled from the herd and put in "elite" academies at a young age and told they are these special creatures who are above the rest of us. The stories around Edmonton of the behaviour of guys like Pronger and Taylor Hall, to name a couple, showed that.

Add in the disgusting greed and the need to slap an ad on every available space, including in the ice; and live, moving ads on the boards DURING PLAY; along with pop up ads on the screen DURING PLAY, and also at each whistle break, and I usually can't hack watching more than a few minutes.

The NHL has just wrecked itself for me. It's too bad, because the skills are incredible. McDavid, Draisatl and Bouchard on one team should be must-watch.

I napped through game one and was out fishing for game two.


Hockey is still awesome. I love watching junior games, or any level really. Being able to sit or stand right at the glass, hearing the sounds that can't be duplicated on TV, watching the boards shake after big hits, it's wonderful.

I do recall having some Whalers among my small hockey card collection way back (I wish I still had those).

One of my earliest specific Oiler memories was being over in BC with my family in '79 and listening to the final Avco Cup series on the radio.

I left the Chicagoland area 35 years ago and yes they did have some good years after I left. I lived in the greater Denver area in the early 2000's and I was rewarded with my only Stanley Cup with the Avalanche, Now I follow the Blues, who can be really good or suck all in the same week!
I hope the series goes the full 7 games because I won't watch any sports now until I can catch a few NFL [Chiefs} games! Hockey is the only sport I enjoy enough to follow all season long!

The crowd will be completely crazy in Edmonchuk. Should be a hell of a show.

Make sure you watch the Canadian national anthem, if you haven't before. Edmonton knows how to do it right.

#3 was the most challenging game so far but, Game1 was a Bobrovsky showcase! I love to watch a master at work! Pulling for the Panthers but, not quite yet. Lord Stanleys challenge is always bittersweet, unless my team takes the cup! I want 2-3 more games first, maybe even just 1 extra. I don't watch much TV, and soon all I'll have left is the Doctor.
If I could change the shape of the TARDIS, it would surely become a Zamboni. Hoping for more, hoping!

i'm like you @Rozgreenburn , after hockey is over is the summer of doldrums. college football at end of August is next up. not a huge baseball fan .

Finally tuned in to a game. Almost said fuck it when Nurse took what was first called a major penalty early, then when they gave up the first goal after going up 2-0, but it's 3-1 after the first period. I'll stick around for a bit.

Regardless of what happens tonight, the Rats will end up with the Cup. You don't come back from being down 0-3 in a best of 7. That said, the Oil were in last place early in the season and were not expected to make the playoffs. Then they went on a 16 game winning streak that just missed the all-time record. If there's ever a team that said screw the odds it's these guys.

Damn, picked a good game to watch.

Five minutes into the 2nd, 5-1 lead, and Goalie Bob has been chased.

I've seen the Oil wreck goalies before. They score goals that shouldn't go in and it messes with the goalie's head. They start second-guessing and it goes downhill from there. It'd be cool to see that again.

I don't hate a lot of people I don't know to the point I want them to come to harm. That cowardly Tkachuk is scum, just a garbage human, and always has been. Jumps McDavid from behind and starts punching him in the back of the head, just the latest in a long list of behaviours that have no place in the game.
Playing with an edge is one thing, but there is a Code. The Tantrum Turtle doesn't play to that Code. He plays to injure and concuss, and doesn't answer for it. Any retaliatory damage he takes is justified. IMO.
