It's a blast watching them learn how to fly, well landing is the fun part. Being buzzed by a 4-5 foot wingspan, barely air worthy predator will keep your head on a swivel.

I have a real camera with an 18-600 lens, but it's never around when the fun stuff is hapening.

Was looking to start a bird thread.
@Hugh Jass beat me to it.

I originally thought that it was a Nuhatch.
I later got a better look at it and realized it was too plain.
I stole a page from DopeDan- and ended up identifying it by ear.

Thanks for picking it back up!

Even casual sighting reports would please me.
I am always aware of the birds around me, and I wonder what you guys are seeing, on the daily.

Like those bigagazz birds we were seeing on the posts, DopeDan, would you say those were Ferruginous. ?

Oh, @Jewels ... Encourage Ol' Hughie at your own risk! 🤣
Went through and pulled a few quickies of some of the daily visitors @ Chez Hughie.

I wish I could contribute more to this thread. Somewhere I have hundreds of pictures of birds from all over the US and Costa Rica from when I was an ornithology student. Unfortunately, transient stoner that I was at the time, Ive lost track of most of the memory cards that held them.

Best I have at the moment is this Downy Woodpecker and Chipping Sparrow sharing at my feeder.

If I figure out how to use the merlin app to id from a pic I'll try that when I get a chance. Still trying to record that thing I hear at dusk and low light that I think is a flicker or possibly a dove now?

The fledgling red tails are becoming teenagers

The eyes look a little more like the rough legged though?
