Playing with more PSBC genetics. I laid down a bunch of my Skunkberry(Sweet Skunk x BB) x Blueberry seeds and most have tails this AM.

I only grew one female out from this run previously and it was fantastic, powerful, delicious medicine, so fingers crossed for more of the same.

Thank you, that's kind of you to say. :)

The rechristened(by me) pHuckets are super effective if well tended. (an homage to this forum as well as an acronym/portmanteau for passive-hydro buckets;) )

I'm finally getting excited about growing again after another rough winter. Been just treading water for months. The bugs were making me crazy and nothing I tried worked, then had a few missed nanners pollinate the fuck out of my flower tent. Couldn't root a clone to save my life. It was shitty.

I'm finally making progress on the bugs. I've got some healthy plants in veg and more beans a-poppin'. Not running anything by the breeder that the nanners came from for a while(and then under close scrutiny) so that shouldn't be a problem.
I want to fill the cupboards by the end of October and have a full clean-out, fumigate, reset over the winter. ?

Spent a good part of the winter fighting mites and gnats and night-time cold temps. It really affected the garden and the pleasure I was getting from the garden. I tried a bunch of stuff and now I finally appear to be winning.

I bought a can of "garden sulphur" powder and have been using it as a spray and it seems to have taken out the mites and the gnats. Bonus(?), the smell of sulphur is a massive memory trigger due to all the time I spent in the petrochemical and oil industries. ?

In addition to some other stuff, I have a couple Smackerz that look frosty and smell great but suffered due to insects. Should still get some fine smoke but I didn't give them the chance to perform to their potential. 100% on me.

There are 3 Sour Sparkles, also from the lovely and talented @thenotsoesoteric that are looking amazing 24 days into veg. Two are already in their final pHuckets and the third is ready. So nice to see happy, bug free plants that are thriving.

(yeah, yeah, I'll get some pics at some point. get off my back, mom!)

I wonder sometimes how much your conditions cost your grow in what seems an ever testing environment . I’m sure I take for granted the favourable temps and humidity I grow in . Having said that , your plants still look terrific with the challenges you face . Must’ve been testing times learning to dial it all in and when you do , something else quite often comes along to test you again .
Even in my climate , sometimes I’ll do exactly the same thing as the last grow and things will go pear shaped . The joys of indoor ? Always on our toes

Favorable temps?? Isn't Australia like.... hot? I have a buddy there and his Aboriginal wife had never seen snow before like last year or the year before? Did I read your upside down thermostats wrong?

Thanks for the empathy and for the kind words. ?
I learned in apartments with radiators, that never got cold at night, and I still had a hell of a learning curve. Buying the house and moving out here was another new beginning. Going from never below 20C in the apartment to never above 14C in the basement was a big change. I'm actually not growing in the basement anymore, just too much hassle.

It's all good though. I like where I live for many reasons and I sure don't feel deprived, nor do I dream of living elsewhere. I look at the overall challenges faced by others around the world and I'm okay with some cold and snow.

I live on the south coast Billy , around roughly the middle of the southern edge. I’d probably compare our weather to that of say California . There’s maybe 100 nautical mile difference in Latitude which isn’t that significant .
I don’t really get a lot of issues with bud rot or powdery mildew etc .
It’s such a large island though ( mainly desert ) that we get arid, tropical , sub tropical, Mediterranean across the lines . Much like the States except the snow bit which I think because I don’t live with it would be pretty cool but I’m sure dealing with it maybe the novelty wears off pretty quick . I dunno though , maybe you guys love the snow ? ??‍♂️

California is so hot trees are on fire sometimes so you're not really selling this "temperate" thing. Are you sure that isn't just what the Brits put on the Pamphlet when they sent you guys there?

Don't get me wrong; The Snow, though incredibly beautiful at times, and leading to wonderful post card worthy images, loses it's special something after a while.

We did have a heat wave going on though; 80s and 90s all week....Today it's 70s and supposed to storm today and become much cooler for a few days. That's why I start my seeds inside, and then move them outside once the Weather isn't as cool at night. Kind of funny really because the temps are just as cool in late Fall, but because they are in flower I don't worry about it. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen plants really react bad to cold temps. In terms of Cheese and every Chem cross I've ever ran, even less so. I've had to knock snow off my plants a few times because of an early season snow, which, the plants seem to respond by getting pretty, and sticky. By the same look, they also seem to hate it when it's the middle of Summer and it's like 95 degrees outside; Chem D and the Cheeses start drooping like they wanna die, so I have to drag some water around in that heat so they don't die LOL. My experience has been more "They will handle 50 degrees a lot better than 95 degrees".

As for living with it....Yes snow is literally cool LOL.

7 of 8 Skunkberry Squared are up out of the coco. As mentioned, I only grew out one of these previously in a small container, but it was like smoking candy and berries, with a powerful wallop. Really looking forward to these ones.

Taking down a cut today of one of the 3 C99 moms I did the seed run with. Can't wait until she's ready for sampling. I managed to lose track, so not sure if this is c101,102, or 103.

I can't find the White Widow autos I thought I had, so I guess no outdoor experiment this year. I guess I could make a quick order, but after spending the last 20 minutes digging through the Vault and looking at all the fire already there I can't bring myself to buy more seeds.

So.
I'm sitting here deciding which Peak stuff to pop. I've got some Northern Skunk from MikeJ and a couple of my crosses from his work on the desk all telling me why they should go first.
The crosses are Polar Beary(C99xBB) and what I have listed as Blueberry x Northern Lights. Not sure if that last one should be the other way around (NLxBB) re parentage. I made these in 2019 so my memory isn't 100%.

I've really been wanting to revisit Peak's Blueberry but don't feel like messing with the finicky IBL so F1s it is.

I have a pile of BB seeds I made, but like I mentioned, they are a challenge to grow and I'm on easy mode right now. :)

I like !

With that NL in there, you will have a  Megafook, in no time.
Thanks, Brother. Fingers crossed!

Northern Lights is a beast and Blueberry is a smaller, prettier beast with amazing flavours and colours. Both have been due a revisit for a long time. The beans all looked great, big and dark and only about 4 years old. BB often needs help cracking the shell, but I'll be watching close and stepping in if necessary.

When I started growing I was chasing heavy indicas but got sidetracked when I discovered Cindy and her kin. I generally find sativas and sativa leaners more interesting and fun now, but sleepy time meds need to always be in the arsenal.

Me too!

I was so fortunate that the first breeder I ever found, once I moved on from the Seedsmans and the Nirvanas, turned out to be PSBC, a guy holding what is considered by many to be the most true representatives of the classic Blueberry and Cinderella 99 lines.

I've reproduced his 4 IBLs, Northern Lights, Blueberry, Cinderella 99 and Sweet Skunk and also made a number of F1s from beans I bought before he left the grey market, so I have many years of happy hunting ahead. :)

Amarok - have you ever gotten a hermy with your C99 ? I know they have a reputation not to herm. I’ve been growing C99 off and on from a pack I got from Beanhoarder at Hemp Depot somewhere around 2008 give or take. I made seeds from the original pack and make more every 3-5 years more or less. Anyway, I always get the pineapple pheno, which I love. About 5 years ago, I remember a clone I had, that was grown under normal conditions indoors, hermied. I was totally surprised and it was the only time I ever had a hermy on Cindy.

I haven't had any hermie issues from any PSBC stuff and I think I grew just about everything he offered.

That said, I actually haven't grown out a lot of different Cindy seeds because I found a keeper so early. My keeper mom has taken massive abuse without issue over the course of years.
